Steve Martin in ‘Oswald’; ‘Only Murders’ Producer Gives Season 5 Clues

Steve Martin, the legendary actor and comedian, recently celebrated his 80th birthday in a very special way. He spent the day shooting a scene at Disneyland, a place that holds a lot of sentimental value to him. During a Television Academy event, Martin shared with the audience why filming at Disneyland on his birthday was so significant to him.

“I shot a little scene at Disneyland on my birthday, August 14, two days ago. It was in the magic shop where I worked when I was 15,” Martin shared. “I’m standing on the exact same spot that I stood on when I was 15! It’s like going to work when you’re 15, and then coming home from work and you’re 80.”

While Martin did not disclose what exactly he was filming at Disneyland, there have been reports that he will be appearing in Jon Favreau’s Disney+ series about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The show’s cast includes Kathryn Hahn, Amy Sedaris, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen. Favreau, known for his work on “The Mandalorian,” serves as the writer, executive producer, and director of the series.

At the Televerse event, Martin was joined by his co-stars Martin Short and Selena Gomez, as well as showrunner John Hoffman. They discussed the upcoming Season 5 of their Hulu comedy, “Only Murders in the Building.”

Hoffman teased that Season 5 will draw inspiration from current events in New York City, incorporating themes of classic-meets-modern and old versus new. The trailer for the new season hints at a mafioso twist as the trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel delve into the organized crime underworld to investigate a mysterious death.

“This season explores power dynamics in New York City and how it reflects larger societal issues,” Hoffman explained. “Our trio finds themselves in the middle of a power struggle, navigating through complex relationships and dangerous situations.”

“Only Murders in the Building” has been nominated for an outstanding comedy series Emmy for its fourth season and is set to return for Season 5 on September 9 on Hulu. Fans can expect more intrigue, humor, and suspense as the trio embarks on a new investigation in the heart of New York City.
