European stocks are poised to open lower on Tuesday with a focus on earnings.
The UK’s FTSE index is expected to open 0.2% lower, while Germany’s DAX, France’s CAC 40, and Italy’s FTSE MIB are all anticipated to be down 0.4%, according to data from IG.
Regional markets saw slight gains on Monday, as investors analyzed insights from the Munich Security Conference.
Earnings reports are key for investors, with Antofagasta and BHP Group among the miners reporting on Tuesday, along with InterContinental Hotels Group and EssilorLuxottica. Data releases will include German inflation and economic sentiment, as well as UK unemployment figures.
Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures were steady after two consecutive weeks of losses, while US markets were closed on Monday for Presidents’ Day.
In Asian markets, trading was cautious on Tuesday due to holiday closures in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea for Lunar New Year celebrations.
