‘Stranger Things 5’ Actor on Demogorgon Attack, Meeting Max

And then I got a callback, which was terrifying. I was, like, shaking the whole time I was doing it. But actually, that was quite good because Holly is terrified in that scene. So maybe it helped a little bit. And then I got a second callback, and then I got the role. It was just insane. I can’t believe it. I’m so grateful for it.

How did you feel when you found out you got the role?

I was in the car with my mum and my dad. And I was on my phone, scrolling through Instagram. And then I got this email, and I opened it, and it was from my agent. And I opened it, and it said, “You got the role,” and I just burst into tears. My mum was like, “What’s happened?” And I was like, “I got the role.” And it was just, like, so happy. I was so happy.

How did you prepare for the role of Holly?

I did a lot of reading. I read up about the ‘80s and what it was like to be a kid in the ‘80s. I also read “A Wrinkle in Time,” which is what Holly’s favorite book is, so that was really helpful. I did a lot of research on the show itself, watching all the episodes. And I also did a lot of work with the dialect coach, trying to get the American accent right and make sure it was consistent throughout.

What was it like filming the final season of “Stranger Things”?

It was incredible. It was so much fun. I made so many friends. And it was just such an incredible experience. I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.

Can you give us any hints about what’s to come in the rest of Season 5?

I don’t want to give too much away, but I can say that there are going to be a lot of surprises. And a lot of action. And a lot of emotion. It’s going to be a rollercoaster, for sure.

With the final season of “Stranger Things” now streaming on Netflix, fans can tune in to see Nell Fisher shine in her role as Holly Wheeler, navigating the challenges and mysteries of the show’s epic conclusion. As a rising young talent, Fisher’s performance is sure to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact on the beloved series.

Nell Fisher, the talented young actress who plays Holly Wheeler in the hit series “Stranger Things,” recently sat down for an interview to discuss her journey to landing the role and how she has approached portraying her character.

In February 2023, Nell recalls being just 11 years old when she auditioned for the role. The Duffer Brothers initially thought they were getting a small, cute blonde girl, but Nell had shot up four inches by the time filming began in January 2024.

Nell vividly remembers the moment she learned she had secured the role. While filming in New Zealand, her dad informed her that the Duffer Brothers wanted to speak with her. On a Zoom call, they offered her the job and mentioned that they had seen her in “Evil Dead,” leaving Nell speechless with excitement.

During the audition process, Nell performed scenes with Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, and Sadie Sink, who plays her on-screen sister. Despite feeling nervous, Sadie instantly put Nell at ease, and they quickly developed chemistry that translated on-screen.

Nell also revealed that she had the opportunity to meet the Price twins, who had previously played Holly Wheeler. Together, they went to a trampoline park, and Nell expressed her gratitude for being able to take over the role from them.

The Duffer Brothers mentioned that they started infusing Nell’s personality into Holly’s character, adapting the role to fit Nell’s extroverted nature. Nell was unaware of this process but noted that she did see script changes that made Holly more outgoing.

Throughout the interview, Nell discussed how Holly’s character has evolved over the seasons, from being the baby of the Wheeler family to discovering her own identity through her encounters with the Upside Down.

As Nell continues to delve into the complexities of playing Holly Wheeler, she reflects on the impact of her character and the realization of the immense role she has undertaken. With each season, Nell’s portrayal of Holly showcases her talent and dedication to bringing this beloved character to life on screen. But it ended up being one of my favorite scenes to film. I was just jumping around the house, singing, and it was so much fun. I think Tiffany is really cool. I love the song, and it was great to be able to incorporate it into the show.

What was it like working with the Duffer Brothers?

They’re just incredible. They’re so dedicated and passionate about what they do. They’re so involved in every aspect of the show. They have this vision in their heads, and they’re able to convey it to everyone else on set. It was just amazing to see how they work and to be a part of that process. They really care about the show and the characters, and they make sure everything is done perfectly.

What was your favorite part of being on the set of Stranger Things?

There were so many great moments, but I think my favorite part was just being able to work with such talented and amazing people. The cast and crew were all so welcoming and supportive, and I learned so much from them. It was such a great experience to be a part of something so special and to see how everything comes together to create this incredible show. I think fans will be really happy with how her character develops and where her journey takes her. It’s going to be a really epic and satisfying conclusion to the series, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Overall, being a part of the final season of “Stranger Things” was an incredible experience for the actress. From bonding with the cast to filming intense scenes in a bathtub, she had a memorable time on set. Fans can look forward to seeing her character, Holly, play a significant role in the final season, and she is excited for viewers to see how her character’s journey unfolds. Working with the talented cast and crew, including the Duffer Brothers, was a highlight of her time on the show, and she will always cherish the memories made during her time on set. Max finds herself immersed in Vecna’s fantasy world, a realm that Holly likens to Camazotz from “A Wrinkle in Time.” While Mike delves into Dungeons and Dragons, Holly finds solace and comparison in her favorite book. She draws parallels between the characters in her book and the ones in Vecna’s world, with Henry embodying the essence of “IT” or “I.T” and Sadie mirroring Meg’s dad.

To prepare for her role, Holly revisits “A Wrinkle in Time,” immersing herself in its captivating narrative once again. The book holds a special place in her heart, serving as a source of inspiration and connection to the fantastical world she now finds herself in.

Despite her newfound acting success, Holly remains grounded in reality, balancing her on-screen adventures with her studies in regular school. The past year has been a whirlwind of excitement and exhaustion, but she cherishes the opportunity to return to a sense of normalcy and routine. With a sense of belonging in the acting world, Holly looks forward to exploring new stories and characters in the future.

Living in Atlanta during filming was a unique experience for Holly, who embraced the local culture and established a routine with her fellow cast members. The quaint neighborhood of Cabbage Town became her temporary home, where she indulged in her grandparents’ love for coffee and savored the simple pleasures of everyday life. While she misses the charm of Atlanta, returning home brings a sense of comfort and familiarity.

As Holly reflects on her journey, she embraces the uncertainty of what lies ahead, eager to continue her acting career and share more stories with the world. Each experience, whether on set or in school, contributes to her growth as an actor and a person, solidifying her presence in the industry and paving the way for future opportunities.
