Suspect ID’d in deadly NYC hookah lounge shooting that killed 3, injured 10

Haile Cummings, a 34-year-old suspect, has been identified by the police in connection with a deadly shootout at a Brooklyn hookah lounge that occurred in August. The incident took place at the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights, where three individuals lost their lives and 10 others were injured.

Cummings, along with two other individuals, was allegedly involved in the shootout with rival gang members in the early hours of August 17. The NYPD has released a photo of Cummings and is seeking the public’s assistance in locating him.

Another suspect, Elijah “Eli Spice” Roy, 25, who is associated with the 5-9 Brims Bloods crew, was charged in October as one of the gunmen involved in the shootout. The gunmen fired more than 40 shots in just six seconds inside the crowded bar.

Surveillance footage captured the moment when the three alleged 5-9 Brim members entered the lounge and confronted members of the rival Folk Nation Gangster Disciples, resulting in a deadly exchange of gunfire. One of the victims, Jamel Childs, was killed during the shootout.

Among those killed in the incident were Marvin St. Louis, a 19-year-old member of the 5-9 Brims, and Amadou Diallo, a 27-year-old patron who was caught in the crossfire.

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the shooting or Cummings’ whereabouts to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

This tragic event highlights the ongoing issue of gang violence in the community and the need for cooperation from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
