Suspect in Texas torture house was once obsessed with making a ‘bed of nails’: grandmother
Maynard Lefevers, one of the individuals involved in the horrific incident of torturing a woman in the backyard of an Austin, Texas home, had a peculiar obsession with creating a “bed of nails” for himself, according to his grandmother, Frankie Lefevers. The 21-year-old had collected thumbtacks to construct a bed of nails, often used in magic tricks.
Frankie Lefevers, who had been estranged from her family for several years, expressed shock upon learning about Maynard’s alleged involvement in the disturbing crimes. She described Maynard as a good kid but pointed out that his father, her son, was not a positive influence. Maynard’s father had abandoned the family, leaving Maynard’s mother to raise him on her own.
Maynard had last spoken to his grandmother around two years ago when she encountered him at a store and gave him some money. Despite facing challenges, Frankie Lefevers never expected Maynard to be involved in such heinous acts.
On October 30, Maynard was arrested along with four others by Austin police officers outside the home where a woman was found handcuffed to a punching bag stand in the backyard. The victim, who had been kept in the backyard for weeks and imprisoned at the home for months, revealed that she had been subjected to torture by the group.
The group, which included Michelle Garcia, Juan Pablo Castro, Crystal Garcia, and Mache Carney, allegedly mistreated the victim, feeding her once a day and shooting BB guns at her. The victim, who had mental health disorders, was kept chained up and exposed to inhumane treatment by the group.
Michelle Garcia, Juan Pablo Castro, Crystal Garcia, Mache Carney, and Maynard Lefevers were all charged and are currently in Travis County jail. The case is ongoing, with court appearances scheduled for the accused individuals.
Despite the shocking revelations, Frankie Lefevers expressed her intention to travel to Austin to support Maynard during his court appearance. The family continues to grapple with the disturbing events and the involvement of their loved one in such a tragic situation.
