Texas Firm Handing Out up to $5,000 per Person After Data Breach Exposed Names, Social Security Numbers and More

A recent settlement agreement has been reached with a Texas construction firm that will compensate individuals affected by a data breach. Mason Construction, based in Beaumont, Texas, has agreed to pay out between $55 to $5,000 per person as part of a class action lawsuit settlement. The lawsuit alleged that the company was negligent in safeguarding sensitive personally identifiable information.

According to the settlement administrator’s portal, individuals who experienced losses between January 6th, 2024, and January 1st, 2026, due to identity theft or fraud stemming from the data breach may be eligible for compensation. Those who can provide documented proof of such losses could receive up to $5,000. Additionally, expenses incurred for replacing IDs, credit monitoring, or freezing/unfreezing credit will be reimbursed up to $500. Time spent addressing the breach will also be compensated at a rate of $25 per hour, up to three hours.

The unauthorized access to sensitive data occurred between January 6th and January 20th, 2024, as outlined in the class action lawsuit filed in March 2025. The stolen information included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government-issued ID numbers, financial details, medical records, and health insurance information.

Individuals seeking compensation must file their claims by June 1st, with a final approval hearing scheduled for June 4th. Despite agreeing to the settlement terms, Mason Construction maintains its innocence, and the court has not yet ruled in favor of either party.
