Texas raid targeting Tren de Aragua gang leads to arrest of 140 illegal immigrants

A recent raid at a sex and human trafficking operation in San Antonio has led to the arrest of at least 140 illegal immigrants by authorities. The operation was reportedly run by members of the Tren de Aragua gang (TdA).

This joint operation involved the Texas Department of Public Safety, along with federal and local authorities, under the direction of Texas Governor Gregg Abbott. The raid was part of a larger effort to combat transnational criminal organizations, with a special focus on dismantling drug cartels, terrorist groups, and criminal networks involved in human trafficking, drug smuggling, and money laundering.

The creation of a regional Homeland Security Task Force was announced on Monday to address the growing threat posed by transnational criminal organizations. This task force aims to disrupt and dismantle these criminal networks responsible for a wide range of illegal activities.

The raid on Sunday was conducted in accordance with President Donald Trump’s executive order issued earlier this year, targeting transnational criminal organizations. More than 140 illegal immigrants from countries like Venezuela, Honduras, Mexico, and other South American nations were apprehended by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents during the operation.

Multiple federal agencies were involved in the raid, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen emphasized the importance of collaboration in capturing violent drug trafficking organizations and ensuring the safety of communities.

While the operation was praised by some officials for its efforts to combat criminal activity, US Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas raised concerns about the potential impact on US citizens and immigrants without criminal records. He has requested more information from the Justice Department and local agencies regarding the raid.

In a separate operation in Houston, ICE arrested over 3,500 criminal illegal aliens, including individuals convicted of murder, child predators, sex offenders, and gang members. The arrests highlighted the ongoing efforts to target and apprehend dangerous criminals who pose a threat to public safety.

Overall, the recent raids in San Antonio and Houston demonstrate the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat transnational criminal organizations and protect communities from the impact of illegal activities.
