Thai Girls’ Love Drama ‘Love Design’ Acquired by Cappu Films at TCCF
Cappu Films, a sales company based in Hong Kong, has recently acquired the rights to the Thai Girls’ Love series “Love Design” and is currently showcasing the title to potential buyers at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF). The series falls under the popular genres of GL and BL (Boys’ Love), which focus on same-sex romantic relationships and have gained significant popularity across Asia, with Thailand being a key production hub for such content.
In collaboration with VelCurve Studio, the production company behind the sci-fi film “Uranus 2324,” Cappu Films will handle international sales for various regions including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, North America, Latin America, and Singapore. “Love Design,” directed by Fuse Kittisak Cheewasatjasakun, revolves around two female architects portrayed by Kao Supassara Thanachart and Jane Methika Jiranorraphat. The series explores their romantic relationship turning sour as one architect uses the other’s designs without permission in a competition, leading to professional animosity.
The show premiered on October 2 with weekly Thursday releases. While Thailand’s Channel 3 is airing an eight-episode version, Tencent’s WeTV platform offers an extended cut with 10 episodes. Fan events for the final two episodes are scheduled for early December 2025. The agreement for international sales was negotiated by Keetawat Chinnakote, CEO and executive producer at VelCurve Studio, and Janice Woo, founder and head of sales at Cappu Films.
Keetawat described “Love Design” as a GL series that delves into the architecture profession, showcasing the challenges of work and the romantic relationships of its characters. He emphasized the high production standards and engaging storytelling of the series, featuring talented actors and promising newcomers. The series serves as a platform for Thai soft power content, highlighting the country’s creative prowess on a global scale.
Woo expressed Cappu Films’ dedication to bringing diverse Asian stories to global audiences, with “Love Design” standing out for its bold narrative combining romance, rivalry, and ambition. The partnership with VelCurve Studio aims to cater to the growing GL fan community in Asia and beyond, offering a fresh and emotionally resonant viewing experience.
Cappu Films specializes in international sales for emerging directors and commercial genre content, with a diverse TCCF slate including acclaimed titles like “Malika,” “Fox Hunt,” “All Happy Families,” “Promise, I’ll Be Fine,” and “Assassin.” VelCurve Studio’s track record includes the successful acquisition of “Uranus 2324” by Netflix for streaming across Southeast Asia.
Overall, the collaboration between Cappu Films and VelCurve Studio promises to bring compelling and culturally rich content to audiences worldwide, bridging the gap between Asian storytelling and global viewership. The series “Love Design” is set to make waves in the GL genre, offering a unique blend of romance, drama, and professional intrigue for viewers to enjoy.
