‘The Chosen’ Team Set Biblical Animated Series at Amazon
Amazon Prime Video is once again expanding its Christian programming offerings with the upcoming animated adventure comedy series, “The Chosen Adventures.” The streaming service has ordered 14 11-minute episodes of the show, which is a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios, the same production company behind the hit series “The Chosen.” The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on October 17 in the U.S. and internationally in various regions including the U.K, Latin America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub Saharan Africa.
“The Chosen Adventures” follows the story of nine-year-old Abby and her best friend Joshua as they navigate life in the ancient city of Capernaum. When the children encounter the wise craftsman and teacher, Jesus of Nazareth, their lives are forever changed as they help spread his influence among the 7 to 12-year-old audience. And let’s not forget Abby’s talking sheep companion, adding a fun and whimsical element to the series.
The voice cast for “The Chosen Adventures” includes Paul Walter Hauser as Sheep, Yvonne Orji as Pigeon, Romy Fay as Abby, Jude Zarzaur as Joshua, Danny Nucci as Abba, and Zehra Fazal as Eema. Additionally, recurring and guest voice cast members include familiar faces such as Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Jordin Sparks as Fish, Paras Patel as Matthew, and Elizabeth Tabish as Mary.
Ryan Swanson serves as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series, with Dallas Jenkins executive producing under the 5&2 Studios banner. Other executive producers include Chris Juen, Chad Gundersen, Keith Alcorn, Kellen Erskine, and Derral Eves, alongside producer Erin Elizabeth Gardner and co-producer Myesha Gosselin.
“The Chosen Adventures” was first announced by Dallas Jenkins in an interview with Variety in 2024. The show is part of Jenkins’ and 5&2’s multi-faceted deal with Amazon MGM Studios, which includes exclusive U.S. streaming rights to new installments of “The Chosen” and the upcoming series “Joseph of Egypt.” This animated series order comes on the same day that Amazon introduced the Wonder Project subscription offering on Prime Video, coinciding with the second season premiere of the Biblical series “House of David,” produced by Wonder Project.
With its engaging storyline, talented voice cast, and creative team behind the scenes, “The Chosen Adventures” is set to be a unique addition to Amazon Prime Video’s Christian programming lineup.
