‘The Last of Us’ Season 3 to Recast Danny Ramirez’s Manny
The character of Manny in “The Last of Us” will be recast for Season 3 of the HBO series due to scheduling conflicts faced by actor Danny Ramirez. Ramirez, who joined the cast in Season 2, portrayed Manny, a loyal soldier with a sunny disposition masking inner pain and fear of letting his friends down in times of need. Manny, a former member of the Fireflies rebel militia, befriends Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever) and aids her in seeking revenge on Joel (portrayed by Pedro Pascal) for his past actions.
Ramirez is most recognized for his role as Joaquin Torres/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in various projects such as “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series, “Captain America: Brave New World,” and the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday.” He is also set to star in the upcoming Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic titled “Samo Lives.”
“The Last of Us” is set in a post-apocalyptic world, 20 years after the collapse of civilization. The story follows Joel, a hardened survivor, who is tasked with smuggling Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a restrictive quarantine zone. What begins as a simple job turns into a harrowing journey as they navigate a dangerous and unpredictable landscape, relying on each other for survival. Season 2 picks up five years later, delving into the complexities of Joel and Ellie’s relationship as they face new challenges in a hostile world.
The series is an adaptation of the popular video game created by Neil Druckmann, who co-developed the TV show with Craig Mazin. Both Druckmann and Mazin were involved as writers and directors in Season 2, but Druckmann stepped back from his creative roles for Season 3 to focus on other projects.
Fans of “The Last of Us” can expect an exciting new chapter in the series as the show continues to explore the themes of survival, loyalty, and the bonds formed in a world ravaged by catastrophe. Stay tuned for updates on the recasting of Manny and the upcoming developments in Season 3 of this gripping post-apocalyptic drama.
