‘The Paper’ to Air on NBC This Fall; Also Cheerleader Comedy ‘Stumble’

NBC is gearing up for an exciting fall lineup with the addition of “The Paper,” an “Office” spinoff that will be making its debut on the network. Set to air on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET starting on November 10, “The Paper” will join the returning comedy “St. Denis Medical” to form an hour of laughter-filled programming.

The decision to bring “The Paper” to NBC was a strategic one, as the show has already garnered a strong following on Peacock, becoming one of the top-ten shows on the platform. With the success of “The Office” and other workplace comedies on the network, it made sense to give “The Paper” a chance to connect with a broader audience on NBC.

A recent internal study revealed that there is minimal duplication in viewership between NBC and Peacock audiences, with Peacock viewers being younger and more male-dominated. By airing “The Paper” on NBC, the network hopes to expose the show to a different demographic and maximize its reach.

“The Paper” co-creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are already hard at work on Season 2, with plans to bring the show back around the same time next year on Peacock. As the first Peacock show to air in its entirety on NBC, “The Paper” is set to undergo some editing to fit the primetime slot, with episodes being trimmed down to 22 minutes.

In addition to “The Paper,” NBC is also adding a new scripted series to its fall lineup with the comedy “Stumble,” set in the world of cheerleading. Premiering on Friday, November 7 at 8:30 p.m. ET, “Stumble” will be paired with the returning hit “Happy’s Place” at 8 p.m.

With a talented cast and experienced executive producers, “Stumble” promises to deliver a mockumentary-style look at the competitive world of junior college cheerleading. Executive producers Monica Aldama, Jeff Astrof, Liz Astrof, Dana Honor, and Jeff Blitz are bringing their expertise to the show, which is sure to be a standout in NBC’s fall lineup.

As for “The Paper,” the series follows the journey of a struggling newspaper in Toledo, led by a group of inexperienced journalists. With a stellar cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Chelsea Frei, the show has already captured the hearts of viewers on Peacock.

With exciting new additions like “The Paper” and “Stumble,” NBC is poised to deliver a diverse and entertaining fall lineup that is sure to captivate audiences. Stay tuned for more updates on these new shows and other developments from NBC.
