Thieves in reflector vests steal $3.2M from NYC home in brazen burglary: cops

A group of daring burglars dressed in construction vests recently broke into a home in Queens during the daytime, making off with a staggering $3.2 million in cash and jewelry. The incident, captured on surveillance footage, has left authorities on the hunt for the thieves responsible for the audacious heist.

The three culprits arrived at the residence on 160th Street and 84th Drive in a blue Hyundai Elantra around 2:20 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon. While the driver, clad in a white hoodie, waited in the car, two of the thieves, wearing construction vests, entered the home through a back door. They swiftly located a safe containing the valuable items and proceeded to load it into the vehicle before speeding away from the scene.

The burglars, described by the NYPD as wearing black sweatshirts, pants, and sneakers, as well as white construction hats and neon construction jackets, managed to carry out the heist without encountering any occupants or causing any injuries. The driver, dressed in black pants, grey sneakers, and black gloves, played a crucial role in facilitating the getaway.

Authorities are puzzled as to why the thieves targeted this particular home and how they were able to make off with such a significant sum of money and jewelry. The investigation is ongoing, with the NYPD urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward by contacting the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.

The brazen nature of this burglary has left the community on edge, with residents concerned about the safety of their own homes. As the search for the thieves intensifies, authorities are hopeful that the surveillance footage and public cooperation will lead to the apprehension of those responsible for this daring crime.
