Thomas’ 2nd goal of the game leads Blues to a 3-2 overtime win over Sharks

The St. Louis Blues pulled off a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against the San Jose Sharks, with Robert Thomas scoring his second goal of the game just 54 seconds into the extra period. This win came on the heels of a busy trade deadline day for the Blues, as they bid farewell to captain Brayden Schenn and defenseman Justin Faulk in separate deals.

Thomas, who has been on fire since returning from injury, notched the game-winner on a rebound off a shot by Philip Broberg. The young forward now has four goals in his last three games, showcasing his offensive prowess for the Blues.

Despite being shorthanded on defense due to the trades, St. Louis managed to secure their third consecutive victory. Jimmy Snuggerud also found the back of the net, while goaltender Jordan Binnington stood tall with 23 saves to anchor the Blues’ defense.

The Sharks, on the other hand, put up a fight with Kiefer Sherwood scoring the equalizer in the third period. Sherwood had quite a week, scoring crucial goals and signing a lucrative contract extension with San Jose.

Macklin Celebrini also contributed a goal for the Sharks, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the determined Blues. Alex Nedeljkovic, who signed a contract extension earlier in the day, made 11 saves in a solid performance for San Jose.

The game featured two fights in the first period, adding to the intensity of the matchup. The Blues opened the scoring with Snuggerud’s goal, setting the tone for a hard-fought contest between the two teams.

Looking ahead, the Blues will face off against the Anaheim Ducks, while the Sharks will host the New York Islanders in their next matchups. It promises to be an exciting continuation of the NHL season, with both teams eager to make their mark in the Western Conference standings.
