Thousands of Penn State fans wear Charlie Kirk’s iconic ‘FREEDOM’ shirt in tribute at game against his favorite team
Penn State football fans showed their support for conservative influencer Charlie Kirk by wearing his signature “FREEDOM” T-shirts at a recent game against Oregon. The images of students donning the shirts went viral on social media, showcasing their solidarity with Kirk’s values.
The game ended in a thrilling 30-24 victory for Oregon, Kirk’s favorite college football team. The winning moment came with a game-sealing interception by Oregon defensive back Dylan Thieneman in overtime, much to the delight of the fans sporting Kirk’s shirts.
The event was organized by Benny Johnson, who distributed 5,000 of the “FREEDOM” shirts to fans before the game at Beaver Stadium. The line for the shirts wrapped around multiple sections of the parking lot, with chants of “USA!” breaking out among the crowd.
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) announced the giveaway as a tribute to Kirk, who tragically lost his life in September. Kirk was known for wearing the iconic shirt at public events, and TPUSA has pledged to continue fighting for the causes he believed in.
In a heartfelt message, Johnson expressed the organization’s commitment to carrying on Kirk’s legacy by engaging in cultural battles, particularly in the realm of college football. The giveaway at the Penn State vs. Oregon game was a fitting tribute to Kirk’s passion for both teams.
Oregon football head coach Dan Lanning also paid tribute to Kirk during a previous game, offering condolences to his family and highlighting the importance of unity and love in today’s society. Lanning emphasized the value of diversity within his own team and called for a return to kindness and empathy in the face of senseless violence.
The gesture of wearing Kirk’s “FREEDOM” shirts at the game was a powerful display of support for his ideals and a reminder of the impact he had on those who shared his beliefs. The unity and camaraderie shown by fans and players alike serve as a testament to Kirk’s enduring legacy and the values he stood for.
