TIE launches to drive innovation in Bangladesh’s textile sector

The Textile Innovation Expo (TIEx) Steering Board, led by Ehsanul Karim Kaiser and ASM Tareq Amin, held its first meeting on January 22, 2026, at the Uttara Club in Dhaka. During the meeting, industry groups such as BGMEA, BKMEA, and BTMA highlighted the challenges facing the textile sector, including rising compliance costs, energy disruptions, and increased competition. These organizations emphasized the importance of innovation to maintain competitiveness in the industry.

The main objective of the Textile Innovation Expo (TIEx) is to foster practical innovation across all aspects of textile and ready-made garment operations by engaging various stakeholders, including factories, buyers, brands, trade associations, academics, technology providers, experts, and policymakers.

The leadership roles for the operational divisions of TIEx have been announced. Dr. Md. Hasib Uddin will oversee the Innovation Wing and the Expo Wing, while Prof. Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan will lead the Research Wing. Saiful Islam Khan will be responsible for the Self-Readiness Index and Recognition Wing. Other members of the steering board include Md. Shamsuzzaman, ATM Mahbubul Alam Milton, A.S.M Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Md. Azhar Ali, and Shafiur Rahman.

The TIE secretariat comprises trade and innovation economist Enamul Hafiz Latifee and Rahbar Hossain. The Innovation Wing aims to provide training programs and initiatives to 50 factories and 500 mid-to-senior professionals to foster an innovation-focused culture. The Research Wing will focus on applied research and data-driven approaches to address operational challenges.

The Self-Readiness Index & Recognition Wing will offer tools for factories to assess their readiness in innovation and compliance areas and recognize successful outcomes. TIEx plans to organize the Textile Innovation Expo in late 2026 to showcase factory innovation, connect solution providers with manufacturers and buyers, and promote industry-wide adoption of proven solutions.

Concurrent expos focusing on dyeing and printing innovation, fiber, yarn, and fabric innovation, as well as garments innovation, are scheduled to take place during the same period. The initiative aims to drive innovation in Bangladesh’s textile sector and was originally featured on Just Style, a GlobalData-owned brand.
