‘Time to rest when I’m dead’
A 52-year-old man from Suffolk County, Christopher Millwater, was found murdered outside the Stony Brook Yacht Club on Long Island. In the days leading up to his death, Millwater left a trail of eerie Facebook posts that hinted at a troubled past. One of his posts mentioned having plenty of time to rest when he’s dead, indicating a sense of urgency in his activities. Another post alluded to his past struggles, mentioning a symbol associated with recovery and sobriety.
In one of his final posts, Millwater expressed a desire for clarity after a period of fog. These cryptic messages on Facebook added a layer of mystery to his sudden death. Suffolk County police confirmed that he was a victim of violence and labeled his death as a murder. However, no arrests have been made, and details surrounding the case remain scarce.
Despite the unsettling nature of his social media posts, most of Millwater’s online presence was typical of a regular Facebook user. Some posts indicated his concern about his receding hairline and featured videos showcasing hair products. Public records revealed that he owned small boats in the past, but none were registered under his name at the time of his death.
The parking lot where Millwater’s body was discovered is commonly used by marinas in the affluent North Shore suburb and serves as parking for the town of Brookhaven boat ramp at Stony Brook. Police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation. In a separate incident, Irish fashion designer Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra was found dead on a boat at the Montauk Yacht Club in August, adding to the string of shocking deaths on Long Island.
The circumstances surrounding Christopher Millwater’s murder remain unclear, and his Facebook posts provide little insight into the events leading up to his tragic end. As authorities continue their inquiries, the community grapples with the loss of a man whose online presence hinted at deeper struggles beneath the surface.
