Top Democrats accuse Bondi and DOJ of Epstein files ‘cover-up’
Top Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Robert Garcia, have accused Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department of engaging in a “cover-up” regarding the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. They claim that crucial information has been withheld and are demanding transparency and accountability.
Schumer emphasized the importance of revealing the alleged cover-up and vowed to pursue every lead and speak with whistleblowers to uncover the truth. Garcia echoed these sentiments, accusing the Justice Department of leading a White House cover-up and demanding the release of all remaining files related to Epstein.
The Democrats pointed out that recent discoveries suggest that the DOJ may have withheld files containing accusations against President Trump. They called for answers from Bondi and the president regarding the missing files, labeling the actions as illegal and unconscionable.
In response to these allegations, the Justice Department stated that they are reviewing flagged documents and will publish any information found to have been improperly tagged. They emphasized their commitment to transparency and compliance with the law.
Schumer and Sen. Dick Durbin also sent a letter to the Justice Department and the FBI requesting the preservation of records related to the management of the Epstein files during the Trump administration. They criticized the administration for mishandling the files and failing to meet deadlines set by Congress.
Additionally, the Democrats accused the Trump administration of violating the legislation’s protections for victims by publishing records without redacting personally identifiable information and including nude photos. They highlighted the importance of correcting any redaction errors and ensuring victims’ privacy.
Despite ongoing allegations and investigations, President Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein or knowledge of his crimes. Democrats continue to push for accountability and transparency, urging Bondi and the administration to address their conduct in handling the Epstein files.
As the investigation unfolds, Democrats remain committed to uncovering the truth and holding those responsible for any cover-up accountable. The quest for justice and transparency in the Epstein case continues as more information comes to light.
