Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent continues his attacks on Gavin Newsom

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and California Gov. Gavin Newsom engaged in a heated exchange of words at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The feud started when Newsom criticized Bessent, calling him “smug” and “out of touch.” Newsom went on to suggest that world leaders needed “kneepads” to appease President Trump.

Bessent didn’t hold back in his response, labeling Newsom as “self-absorbed and too economically illiterate.” He took a jab at Newsom’s comment about kneepads by insinuating that they were meant for a meeting with American investor and Democrat Alex Soros.

In an interview with Politico, Bessent further criticized Newsom, stating that being on the national stage is different from being governor of California with no significant achievements. He even went as far as referring to Alex Soros as Newsom’s “Ken doll” and “billionaire sugar daddy.”

Bessent didn’t mince his words when discussing Soros, highlighting his actions during the lockdown period when he reportedly had people arrested for attending church. The Treasury Secretary painted Davos as a suitable setting for Newsom and Soros, implying a lack of authenticity in their presence at the prestigious event.

The exchange between Bessent and Newsom highlights the ongoing tension between political figures and underscores the importance of diplomatic communication on the global stage. As the verbal sparring continues, it remains to be seen how these interactions will shape future political discourse and relationships.
