Trial begins for NYPD sergeant Erik Druan in death of Eric Duprey

Sgt. Erik Duran, an undercover NYPD officer, is currently on trial in Bronx Criminal Court for the death of Eric Duprey, a 30-year-old man who died during a drug bust nearly three years ago. The incident occurred on August 23, 2023, when Duran made a split-second decision to throw a cooler at Duprey, who was riding a scooter at 30 mph down a sidewalk towards Duran and others during the operation.
