Trump admin live updates: Attorney General Bondi to visit Alcatraz, officials say
President Donald Trump took to his social media platform to make a significant announcement regarding federal funding for California’s High-Speed Rail project. In his post, Trump declared the end of federal funding for the project, citing the failure of the promised railroad to materialize.
“The railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will,” Trump stated in his post. He went on to praise Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy for ensuring that not a single penny of federal dollars would go towards what he referred to as the “Newscum SCAM” ever again.
In a subsequent statement, Duffy revealed that the Federal Railroad Administration had terminated approximately $4 billion in unspent funding for what he dubbed “California’s High Speed Rail Boondoggle.” Duffy highlighted the exorbitant projected cost of the project, estimated at $135 billion, noting that this amount could instead provide every resident of San Francisco and Los Angeles with nearly 200 round trip flights between the two cities.
Blaming California Governor Newsom and the Democratic party for enabling years of wasteful spending, Duffy emphasized that federal dollars are not a limitless resource. He stressed that such funding comes with the expectation of tangible results and expressed a commitment to ensuring that taxpayers’ money is directed towards projects that deliver significant outcomes.
As Trump and Duffy take a firm stance against what they view as a misguided and costly endeavor, they underscore the importance of accountability and efficiency in the allocation of public funds. By prioritizing impactful and beneficial initiatives, they aim to uphold a standard of excellence and responsibility in governance.
The decision to halt federal funding for California’s High-Speed Rail project reflects a broader commitment to fiscal prudence and strategic investment in projects that serve the public interest. As the administration continues to prioritize prudent financial management, the focus remains on supporting initiatives that yield meaningful and lasting benefits for the American people.
