Trump admin on pace to shatter deportation record by end of first year: ‘Just the beginning’
The Trump administration has been making significant strides in deporting illegal aliens from the United States since the President returned to office in January. With over 500,000 illegal aliens deported so far, the administration is on track to exceed the record number of deportations.
According to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, the administration is set to deport 600,000 illegal aliens by the end of Trump’s first year back in office. In total, more than two million illegal aliens have left the US, including 1.6 million who voluntarily self-deported and over 515,000 who were deported. Additionally, 485,000 illegal aliens have been arrested by DHS since Trump took office.
McLaughlin emphasized that this is just the beginning of the administration’s efforts to enforce immigration laws. She highlighted a 99.99 percent drop in migration through Panama’s Darien Gap, a key migration route to the US, as evidence that the message to leave or face consequences is being heard by illegal aliens.
Despite facing injunctions and challenges from activist judges, ICE, CBP, and the US Coast Guard have made progress in carrying out President Trump’s promise to arrest and deport illegal aliens. Over the weekend, DHS continued its sweep of criminal illegal aliens, arresting individuals convicted of serious crimes such as rape of a child, assault, hit-and-run, and kidnapping.
Among those arrested were individuals convicted of heinous crimes such as rape of a child in Boston, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act in Alabama, and indecent liberties with a child in North Carolina. ICE also arrested individuals convicted of offenses like abduction, burglary, drug trafficking, and hit-and-run in various states across the country.
McLaughlin reaffirmed that nothing, not even a government shutdown, will slow down the efforts to make America safe again. She criticized the Democratic Party for the shutdown, stating that ICE law enforcement officers are continuing to arrest criminal illegal aliens despite the political challenges.
The administration’s strong stance on immigration enforcement is evident in the significant number of deportations and arrests of criminal illegal aliens. As the administration continues its efforts to secure the border and uphold immigration laws, the impact on illegal immigration and public safety remains a key priority.
