Trump, Apple announce new $100 billion commitment to manufacturing in U.S.
Apple and President Trump have announced a groundbreaking new commitment to boost manufacturing in the U.S. with a $100 billion investment by Apple. This investment is part of Apple’s overall plan to invest $600 billion in the U.S. over the next four years, creating 20,000 new jobs at the tech giant.
The announcement was made by President Trump, who highlighted that this is the largest investment Apple has ever made in America. The investment will include the construction of a smart glass manufacturing line in Kentucky, a server manufacturing facility in Houston, and the establishment of a manufacturing academy in Detroit. This move is seen as a significant step towards the goal of ensuring that iPhones sold in the U.S. are also made in America.
Apple CEO Tim Cook joined President Trump for the announcement and presented him with a specially engraved glass Apple plate set in a base of 24K gold. The new investment will increase Apple’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing to $600 billion over the next four years and will include the launch of an “American Manufacturing Program” focused on bringing more of Apple’s supply chain and advanced manufacturing to the U.S.
According to a White House official, the partnership with Apple is expected to help reshore the production of critical components to protect America’s economic and national security. This move comes after Apple’s previous announcement in February to invest $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years and hire 20,000 U.S.-based workers. The company also plans to build a new manufacturing plant in Houston and establish an educational academy in Michigan focused on manufacturing.
In response to President Trump’s threats of imposing tariffs on iPhones made outside the U.S., Apple has pledged to ensure that iPhones sold in the U.S. are manufactured and built in the country. This commitment aligns with the company’s vision to support American manufacturing and create more jobs in the U.S.
Overall, the partnership between Apple and President Trump signifies a significant investment in U.S. manufacturing and job creation. This move is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and national security, while also reinforcing Apple’s commitment to supporting American manufacturing.
