President Donald Trump boasted about the “positive aspects” of the economy in an exclusive interview with NBC News airing Sunday, while attributing the “negative aspects” to former President Joe Biden’s administration.

Trump stood by his decision to impose tariffs, despite the economic uncertainties that followed the announcement.

“Ultimately, I take accountability for everything, but I’ve only been in office for a little over three months,” Trump remarked.

“The tariffs have recently been implemented. … The tariffs will lead to wealth. We will become a prosperous nation,” he emphasized.

This is not the first instance of Trump shifting blame to his predecessor. Just last week, he held Biden responsible for the contraction of the U.S. economy in the first quarter.

Trump reiterated his stance on tariffs during a recent Cabinet meeting, dismissing concerns about potential supply shortages.

“I believe that an 11-year-old girl does not need 30 dolls,” Trump stated.

“I’m simply suggesting that children do not require 30 dolls. They can have three, and they do not need 250 pencils, they can have five,” he added.

During the interview, Trump downplayed the long-term negative effects of his tariffs on the U.S. economy, even in the event of a short-term recession.

“Certainly, everything is fine. As I mentioned, this is a transition period. I am confident that we will thrive,” he assured Welker.
