Trump border czar Homan rips into NYC Mamdani mayoral campaign against ICE agents
Border czar Tom Homan has recently criticized Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign promise to “kick the fascist ICE out of New York City,” stating that it’s “game on.” Mamdani, a Democratic socialist who declared victory in the NYC Democratic primary, has vowed to take action against ICE if elected as mayor.
Homan, who was appointed by President Trump to oversee immigration enforcement, responded to Mamdani’s promise by simply saying, “Good luck with that.” He emphasized that federal law takes precedence over local policies and that ICE will continue to operate in sanctuary cities like New York City.
In a recent appearance on Fox Business’s “Kudlow,” Homan explained that ICE will increase its presence in New York City, particularly in sanctuary cities where public safety threats are released back into the streets. He also mentioned plans to ramp up worksite enforcement to address the issue of illegal immigration.
Despite Mamdani’s strong stance against ICE, Homan praised current Mayor Eric Adams for his cooperation with federal agents on immigration matters. He commended Adams for his efforts to address public safety threats and combat child trafficking in the city.
Mamdani, who made headlines for confronting Homan at the statehouse earlier this year, has positioned himself as a candidate who will stand up to Trump and protect immigrant communities. His campaign platform includes plans to strengthen the city’s sanctuary city policies and increase legal support for immigrants.
Overall, the clash between Mamdani and Homan highlights the ongoing debate over immigration enforcement in New York City. As the mayoral race heats up, it remains to be seen how the issue of ICE presence in the city will impact the outcome of the election.
