Trump Dreams of Zohran Mamdani, Slams Pete Hegseth

In the cold open of the December 6 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” President Donald Trump did not show much support for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Colin Jost, playing the role of Hegseth, faced questions from the press regarding the United States’ strikes on boats allegedly operated by narco-terrorists. In a comedic fashion, Hegseth insulted journalists and gave a less-than-convincing denial of the military operation’s success.

Jost-as-Hegseth joked, “That kind of cruel, heartless act has no place in operation ‘Kill Everybody.'” He then humorously claimed he was not present during the operation due to being preoccupied with a personal struggle related to his sponsor from an anonymous meeting. The skit poked fun at Hegseth’s character and the perceived incompetence in handling the situation.

To add to the humor, James Austin Johnson portrayed Donald Trump, who was depicted as being more interested in dreaming about the newly elected NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani than supporting Hegseth. Trump’s comedic lines included expressing support for Hegseth while also hinting at throwing him under the bus if necessary.

The episode’s host, Melissa McCarthy, and musical guest Dijon were also highlighted in the segment. The cold open provided a satirical take on political figures and current events, typical of “Saturday Night Live’s” comedic style.

The skit can be watched in the embedded video below, capturing the essence of the humorous interactions between the characters. Overall, the December 6 episode of “Saturday Night Live” delivered laughs and entertainment, showcasing the talented cast members and their comedic portrayals of political figures.
