Trump mulling military strikes on cartel targets inside Venezuela: report
President Trump is currently contemplating the idea of conducting military strikes inside Venezuela in order to target drug cartel operations and destabilize the regime of dictator Nicolas Maduro. While the President has not made a final decision on whether to proceed with strikes on Venezuelan soil, the recent sinking of a drug smuggling boat linked to Venezuelan narco-terrorists is seen as the beginning of a broader campaign aimed at eliminating drug cartels and pressuring Maduro to step down from power.
According to sources familiar with the Trump administration’s plans, the preferred outcome would be for Maduro to voluntarily leave office. However, if he chooses to resist, the message to him is clear – the choice will be between an easy exit or a more challenging one. The White House is reportedly willing to take decisive action if needed, with a focus on targeting terrorists and drug traffickers associated with the Venezuelan regime.
The US Navy has already deployed multiple warships to the Caribbean Sea as part of the crackdown on narcotics trafficking by Venezuelan drug cartels, which have been labeled as foreign terrorist organizations. An airstrike conducted by US forces on a drug boat operated by the Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists resulted in the deaths of all 11 individuals on board. This operation marked the beginning of a more aggressive approach towards combating drug trafficking in the region.
In response to the US military presence, Venezuelan warplanes engaged in a provocative act by flying over a Navy ship, prompting a warning from President Trump that any dangerous actions would be met with a forceful response. Additionally, the US plans to deploy F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico as part of the effort to combat drug cartels, although the specific role of these aircraft in the mission remains unclear.
While President Trump has reiterated that regime change in Venezuela is not the immediate goal, he has criticized the legitimacy of Maduro’s presidency, pointing to allegations of electoral fraud in the past. The White House has labeled the Maduro regime as a narco-terror cartel and emphasized its commitment to using all available resources to prevent drug trafficking and hold those responsible accountable.
The Justice Department has even placed a $50 million bounty on Maduro’s head, citing his involvement with drug cartels and criminal activities. The administration’s stance on Venezuela reflects a strong commitment to addressing the threat posed by drug trafficking and supporting efforts to restore democracy in the country.
