Trump Pardons Reality Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley

President Donald Trump has made the decision to grant full pardons to Todd and Julie Chrisley, the reality stars who were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022. This news was shared by White House communications advisor Margo Martin, who posted a video on X showing Trump on the phone with the couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, delivering the good news.

In the video, Trump expressed his sympathy for the Chrisleys, stating, “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow. We’ll try getting it done tomorrow. I don’t know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good life.” The President also commented on the treatment the couple received, noting that it was “pretty harsh” for their crimes.

According to reports from WSB-TV in Atlanta, Todd Chrisley was facing a 12-year prison sentence, while Julie was sentenced to seven years. The couple was accused of falsifying documents to defraud Atlanta banks of over $30 million through fraudulent loans. Additionally, they were found to have hidden millions of dollars from the IRS that they earned from their show “Chrisley Knows Best.” Their attorney had previously stated that Trump was seriously considering pardoning the Chrisleys back in February.

In connection to the scheme, the couple’s accountant, Peter Tarantino, was also sentenced to three years in prison for conspiring to defraud the IRS and filing false tax returns. It remains unclear whether a pardon for Tarantino is being pursued at this time.

The news of Trump’s pardons for Todd and Julie Chrisley has sparked both controversy and relief among the public. While some believe that the pardons are justified, others argue that it sets a dangerous precedent for white-collar criminals. Regardless of the opinions surrounding the pardons, the Chrisleys can now look forward to a future free from the looming threat of prison time.
