Trump putting more feds on DC streets in response to out-of-control youth violence

President Trump to Deploy Federal Law Enforcement in DC to Combat Youth Violence

In a move to address the escalating violence in Washington DC, President Trump is set to deploy federal law enforcement on the streets of the nation’s capital as early as Friday. The decision comes in response to recent incidents of gang violence involving roaming “youths” in the city.

One such incident involved a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer, Edward Coristine, who was attacked by a group of teenagers while trying to prevent a carjacking near Dupont Circle. The brutal assault left Coristine bloodied and injured, prompting calls for increased law enforcement presence in the city.

The White House confirmed the plans for enhanced federal enforcement, with operational details still being finalized. The deployment is expected to involve personnel from the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and possibly the National Guard.

The move follows Trump’s executive order titled “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful,” which established a task force dedicated to combating crime and reducing illegal immigration in the city. The order calls for collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, recruitment of more officers, and deployment in high-crime areas.

Mayor Muriel Bowser has implemented curfews for minors in an effort to curb youth crime, but the president has expressed dissatisfaction with the progress. Trump threatened to federalize DC if crime rates do not improve, emphasizing the need to hold young offenders accountable for their actions.

In a statement, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted the administration’s commitment to making Washington DC safer for residents, lawmakers, and visitors. The president urged city officials to treat violent offenders as adults and impose stricter penalties to deter criminal behavior.

As federal law enforcement gears up for deployment in the capital, residents can expect to see increased patrols and enforcement efforts aimed at addressing youth violence and ensuring public safety. The administration’s focus on combating crime and restoring order in DC reflects a broader push to make the city a safer and more secure environment for all.
