Trump ‘saved countless lives’ in Venezuelan dictator Maduro capture operation, Pam Bondi says
US Attorney General Pam Bondi recently spoke out about the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, emphasizing that the operation was not just about drugs. In an interview on Fox News’ “Hannity,” Bondi stated that Maduro and other defendants could potentially face charges in other locations as well. She made it clear that nothing is off the table when it comes to holding these individuals accountable for their actions.
Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, pleaded not guilty to narco-terrorism and other charges in federal court on Monday. The Justice Department has accused Maduro of providing Venezuelan diplomatic passports to drug traffickers and facilitating the use of diplomatic cover for planes used by money launderers to transport drug proceeds from Mexico to Venezuela.
During the court appearance, Maduro declared himself a “prisoner of war” and compared himself to Jesus, insisting on his innocence and claiming to still be the president of his country. However, the evidence against him is strong, and the US government is determined to ensure that he remains behind bars.
Some Democrats have criticized the military operation, known as “Operation Absolute Resolve,” as a violation of state sovereignty, drawing comparisons to past actions by former President George W. Bush. Bondi defended the operation, stating that it was well within President Donald Trump’s constitutional authority to address the threat posed by Maduro and his associates.
Bondi praised the military for executing the operation flawlessly, emphasizing that it saved countless lives and protected Americans from dangerous individuals associated with Maduro. She highlighted the tragic murder of several innocent victims at the hands of Venezuelan gang members and vowed to put an end to such violence.
While Trump has indicated that the US will temporarily oversee Venezuela, Maduro’s allies in the government have disputed this claim. The Venezuelan dictator and his wife are scheduled to appear in court again on March 17, where they will face the full extent of the charges against them.
Overall, the capture of Nicolás Maduro represents a significant milestone in the fight against narco-terrorism and corruption. The US government is committed to holding accountable those responsible for destabilizing the region and posing a threat to global security.
