Trump says CEO of Intel must resign, calling him “highly conflicted”

President Trump Calls for Intel CEO’s Resignation

President Trump stirred controversy on Thursday by publicly calling for the resignation of Intel’s CEO, Lip-Bu Tan. This unexpected move sent shockwaves through the technology company, causing a significant drop in their stock value before the markets opened.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his demand for Tan’s resignation. In his post, the former president stated, “The CEO of Intel is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!” Despite the bold statement, Trump did not provide further details on the reasons behind his call for Tan’s resignation.

The push for Tan’s departure comes in the wake of concerns raised by Sen. Tom Cotton from Arkansas. In a letter addressed to Intel Chairman Frank Yeary, Cotton highlighted Tan’s investments and connections to Chinese businesses. The senator pointed out that Tan has control over numerous Chinese companies, with ties to advanced manufacturing and chip firms, some of which allegedly have links to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Lip-Bu Tan, a seasoned veteran in the semiconductor industry, took on the role of CEO at Intel in March, and his leadership has been closely scrutinized ever since.

Following Trump’s call for Tan’s resignation, Intel’s stock experienced a significant drop of over 4% in premarket trading, reflecting investor uncertainty and concern over the company’s leadership.
