Trump says he got a CT scan instead of an MRI

President Donald Trump recently clarified that he did not receive an MRI at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in October, as he had previously claimed. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump admitted that he actually underwent a CT scan instead.

“It wasn’t an MRI,” Trump stated. “It was less than that. It was a scan.”

Initially, Trump had insisted that he had received an MRI and even mentioned that he would release the results to the public. However, his physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, confirmed that it was a CT scan, not an MRI. Both MRI and CT scans are imaging techniques used to diagnose various medical conditions, with MRI using magnetic fields and radio waves, while CT scans rely on X-rays.

The purpose of the scan was to rule out any cardiovascular issues, and the results were described as “perfectly normal.” Barbabella emphasized that the imaging was essential for monitoring Trump’s overall health and detecting any potential problems early on.

Despite the initial confusion regarding the type of scan, Barbabella reassured that Trump is in excellent health and fully capable of performing his duties as Commander in Chief. However, Trump expressed regret over undergoing the scan, believing that it has been used against him as “ammunition.”

In addition to the scan, Trump also discussed his daily intake of aspirin, which he takes to thin out his blood. He disclosed that he has been taking a specific aspirin for 25 years and has chosen not to reduce the dosage, despite doctors’ recommendations.

Furthermore, Trump addressed the recent criticism surrounding his apparent moments of drowsiness during public events. He explained that closing his eyes during such occasions is relaxing for him and denied falling asleep. Trump also mentioned that staff members have advised him to keep his eyes open and shorten Cabinet members’ presentations to maintain engagement.

Overall, the revelations about Trump’s medical procedures and health habits shed light on his approach to personal wellness and how he navigates public appearances. Despite the controversies surrounding the scan and his occasional moments of fatigue, Trump remains committed to fulfilling his duties as President.
