Trump ‘thrilled’ by FCC chair Brendan Carr threat to revoke broadcast licenses over Iran war

President Trump expressed his satisfaction with Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr’s threat to revoke the licenses of broadcasters spreading “hoaxes and distortions” related to the Iran war. Trump criticized outlets that disseminate AI-generated content produced by the Tehran regime, which he called the “master of media manipulation and public relations.”

According to Trump, Iran utilizes artificial intelligence as a tool for disinformation to portray a false image of military strength despite suffering significant losses. He specifically mentioned fabricated footage of “Kamikaze Boats” attacking ships at sea, emphasizing that these vessels do not actually exist.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump condemned the radical left-wing press for promoting such deceptive content, asserting that they lack credibility. He commended Brendan Carr for considering the licenses of what he described as “Corrupt and Highly Unpatriotic ‘News’ Organizations.”

Carr issued a stern warning to broadcasters running what he termed as “hoaxes and news distortions,” cautioning them to rectify their practices before license renewal. He emphasized the importance of operating in the public interest and restoring trust in the media, which has been plagued by the label of fake news.

The FCC renews broadcasters’ licenses every eight years, with Carr emphasizing that licenses are not a property right. While FCC chiefs have not revoked licenses since the 1980s, Carr stressed the imperative of prioritizing the public interest in broadcasting.

Trump also addressed reports of Iranian strikes on US Air Force tankers at a Saudi Arabia airport, clarifying that while the base was hit, the planes were not severely damaged or destroyed. He reassured the public that four out of the five tankers had minimal damage and were already back in service, with the fifth expected to resume operations shortly.

Overall, the collaborative efforts of President Trump, Brendan Carr, and the FCC aim to uphold integrity in broadcasting, combat disinformation, and ensure that the public interest remains a top priority in media dissemination.
