Trump, Xi  may meet ahead of or during APEC summit October: report

Reports suggest that President Trump may visit China before attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit between Oct. 30 and Nov. 1. Alternatively, he could meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC event in South Korea. These discussions come as both countries aim to resolve the ongoing tariff war that has disrupted global trade and supply chains.

While a potential meeting between the leaders has been discussed, no official date or location has been confirmed yet, according to sources familiar with the matter.

President Trump has been pushing for tariffs on US importers as part of his strategy to boost domestic manufacturing. Critics argue that this could lead to higher prices for American consumers. Trump has proposed a base tariff rate of 10% on goods from all countries, with higher rates for imports from problematic countries like China, which currently faces a 55% tariff rate.

The deadline for the US and China to reach a lasting tariffs agreement is set for Aug. 12 by President Trump.
