Trump’s alleged letter among ‘Friends’ section in Epstein’s birthday book
The House Oversight Committee, led by GOP members, announced on Monday that they have received documents and communications from the Jeffrey Epstein estate. Among the documents obtained is the Epstein “birthday book,” which reportedly contains a letter signed by President Donald Trump for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003.
After Democrats on the committee made public the alleged letter from Trump, the Republican chairman, Rep. James Comer, released most of the documents provided by the Epstein estate. These documents include the birthday book, Epstein’s last will and testament from 2019, and other records already in the public domain.
The 238-page PDF document of the birthday book features a “prologue” written by Ghislaine Maxwell. Contributors are categorized as Family, Brooklyn, Girlfriends (names redacted), Children (names redacted), Friends, Science, Special Assistants (names redacted), and Business.
Donald Trump is listed under the “Friends” category in the book, along with other notable figures such as Bill Clinton, Alan Dershowitz, and Lesley Wexner. The book also includes photographs from Epstein’s youth, his birth certificate, and images of him with various women, including Ghislaine Maxwell.
In response to the alleged letter, Trump denied writing it and called it “fake.” The White House also denied the authenticity of the signature in the letter, leading to a defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal.
Vice President JD Vance criticized the release of the documents as a “fake scandal” and accused Democrats of creating a smear campaign against Trump. The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed the estate for information, including the birthday book, banking records, flight logs, and calendars.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate, stated in an interview with the Justice Department that Epstein asked her to coordinate contributions to the birthday book. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her involvement in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring.
Brad Edwards, an attorney for Epstein survivors, expressed frustration with Trump’s actions and called for him to withdraw his lawsuit and apologize to journalists. Edwards had previously urged lawmakers to subpoena the estate for the birthday book, emphasizing the importance of obtaining the book for the victims.
The House Oversight Committee recently released thousands of pages of documents related to Epstein, shedding light on the controversial case and raising questions about the involvement of high-profile individuals.
