Trump’s Latest Wild ‘MAGA MATH’ Has Critics Checking Their Calculators
Donald Trump faced backlash on social media for his exaggerated claims about reducing medication costs for Americans, with critics dubbing it as “MAGA Math.”
During a recent speech, the president boldly stated, “I’m going to be reducing drug prices by 1,400, 1,500%,” sparking confusion and skepticism among viewers.
A viral video of his statement was flagged on X (formerly Twitter) for spreading misleading information, with a breakdown of basic math principles to debunk Trump’s unrealistic promise.
“If you reduce price by 100%, price becomes zero.
For example, if the original price of a book is $10 and there is a 100% price reduction, the calculation would be $10 – (100% of $10) = $10 – $10 = $0.
Therefore, the price cannot go lower than zero to indicate a ‘more than 100%’ reduction.”
Many were left questioning the president’s grasp on simple arithmetic following his latest outlandish claim.
