The festivities in Washington, D.C., will be grand, with marching troops, tanks, World War II airplanes, and Vietnam War-era helicopters taking center stage. Among the parade participants will be 34 horses, two mules, a wagon, and a special dog named “Doc Holliday.”

Doc Holliday, a Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog), is a member of the 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment at Fort Cavazos, Texas. The Army has been diligently planning this celebration for nearly two years, aiming to honor 250 years of service and sacrifice by American soldiers. President Trump has been a driving force behind making this event a memorable one. Despite the high costs involved, the Army sees this as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the nation and its military.

The parade will feature historical elements, starting with troops in Revolutionary War attire and progressing through different eras with relevant vehicles and aircraft on display. From World War II jeeps and tanks to modern-day helicopters like the AH-64 Apache and CH-47 Chinook, the parade will showcase the Army’s evolution over the years.

As the Army prepares for the parade, tanks are being loaded onto rail cars at Fort Cavazos for transport to Washington, D.C. Tanks, Stryker vehicles, and self-propelled howitzers will be part of the procession, highlighting the Army’s armored capabilities. The event aims to not only celebrate the Army’s rich history but also to honor the men and women who have served the country selflessly.

The Army’s 250th birthday celebration promises to be a spectacular display of military prowess and patriotism, paying tribute to the legacy of the nation’s oldest military branch. From historical reenactments to modern equipment displays, the parade will offer a glimpse into the Army’s past, present, and future.
