TSA PreCheck Touchless ID can save you time as airport lines get longer. Here’s how to sign up.

As the lines at TSA checkpoints continue to grow longer and the uncertainty at U.S. airports increases, there is a solution for flyers looking to expedite their security wait times. In addition to monitoring TSA wait-time trackers on airport websites, travelers can enroll in the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program, which utilizes biometric technology similar to Clear for identity verification.

The Touchless ID program, which uses facial recognition technology, promises “faster, more efficient identity verification,” according to TSA. At airports where the program is currently available, travelers are directed to separate Touchless ID lanes at security checkpoints, which typically have the shortest wait times.

Currently, Touchless ID is offered at 65 airports across the United States, but flyers must opt into the program through their respective airlines. To be eligible for enrollment, travelers must already have TSA PreCheck, an active frequent flyer profile with a participating airline, and valid passport information uploaded to that profile.

Five airlines are currently participating in the Touchless ID program: Alaska, American, Delta, Southwest, and United. Each airline has its own process for enrolling in the program.

For Alaska Airlines passengers, enrollment in Touchless ID requires having an Atmost Rewards account. Flyers can add their Known Traveler Number (KTN) and passport information to their profile and opt into the program under the “travel documents” tab.

American Airlines flyers must have a rewards account with the airline to opt into Touchless ID. Passengers can save their KTN and passport information to their profile under the “information and password section” and opt into the program by checking the appropriate box.

Delta allows SkyMiles account holders to enroll in Touchless ID. Travelers can store their passport information and KTN in their SkyMiles profile and opt into the program within their rewards profile.

Southwest Airlines passengers can opt into Touchless ID through their Rapid Rewards account. By logging into their account in the Southwest app, travelers can select “TSA PreCheck Touchless ID” and scan their passport to enroll in the program.

United passengers interested in Touchless ID must have a Mileage Plus account. They can save their passport and KTN to their account in the United app and opt into Touchless ID on the TSA PreCheck and travel documents page.

Once enrolled in Touchless ID, travelers should look for the green “Touchless” badge at select airports, indicating dedicated security lines and bag drops. Participating airlines offer touchless bag drop options at their hub airports in addition to security checkpoints.

In conclusion, by enrolling in the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID program through their respective airlines, travelers can enjoy expedited security wait times at participating airports across the United States. The program’s facial recognition technology offers a seamless and efficient way to verify identity, making the airport experience smoother and more convenient for frequent flyers.
