‘Tulsa King’ Spinoff With Samuel L. Jackson to Change Showrunners

The potential spinoff series “NOLA King” is undergoing a change in leadership as showrunner Dave Erickson has stepped down due to a scheduling conflict. Sources have revealed exclusively to Variety that the search is currently underway to find a new showrunner for the highly anticipated series, which has not yet been officially greenlit by Paramount+.

Paramount representatives have not provided any comments regarding Erickson’s departure or the search for his replacement.

“NOLA King” was first announced to be in development at Paramount+ back in June. The series is expected to feature a character played by Jackson, who will be introduced through guest appearances in multiple episodes of Season 3 of “Tulsa King” before transitioning to his own show. While specific details about the character remain under wraps, it has been hinted that Jackson will portray a prominent gangster in New Orleans, akin to Sylvester Stallone’s character in “Tulsa King.”

Erickson, who also serves as the showrunner for “Tulsa King” Season 3 and “Mayor of Kingstown” starring Jeremy Renner, is still under contract with MTV Entertainment Studios. He took over as showrunner for “Tulsa King” Season 3 after the show underwent a change in leadership following its second season. Erickson originally joined “Mayor of Kingstown” during its second season as well.

Both “Tulsa King” Season 3 and “Mayor of Kingstown” Season 4 have wrapped filming, though premiere dates have not been announced yet. Fans can expect both series to air later this year.

“NOLA King” is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan and David C. Glasser of 101 Studios, with MTV Entertainment Studios handling production.

As the search for a new showrunner continues, fans eagerly anticipate the development of “NOLA King” and the introduction of Jackson’s character in the Taylor Sheridan-verse. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new series.
