TV Academy Emmy 2026 Calendar: Eligibility, Nomination, Voting Dates

The Television Academy has recently announced the schedule for the 2026 Emmy Awards, with some changes in how certain category nominations will be revealed. The majority of nominations for the 78th Emmys will still be announced on Wednesday, July 8. However, there will be a delay in the announcement of nominations for 14 artisans categories, which will now be unveiled on Wednesday, July 15.

In addition to the nomination announcement changes, the TV Academy will also be introducing new Emmy rules for the upcoming contest. These rules will be disclosed in the full 78th Emmy Rules and Procedures at the end of January.

The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC and streamed on Peacock from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This marks the final year of the four-network Emmy “wheel deal.”

The 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6 at the Peacock Theater.

– June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026: Eligibility period.
– Thursday, Feb. 19: Open for submissions.
– Tuesday, Apr. 7: Deadline for membership applications for voting eligibility.
– Wednesday, May 6: Deadline for lapsed members to reinstate membership.
– Thursday, May 7: Entry deadline for Primetime programming.
– Thursday, June 11: Nomination-round voting begins.
– Monday, June 22, 10 p.m.: Nomination-round voting ends.
– June 26 – July 7: Voting for peer group specific top 10 round panels.
– Wednesday, July 8: Nominations announced.
– Wednesday, July 15: Nominations announced for peer group specific top 10 round panels.
– Wednesday, July 22: Deadline for errors and omissions to the nominations.
– Week of Aug. 10: Final-round videos available for viewing.
– Friday, Aug. 14 – Sunday, Aug. 16: Televerse at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live.
– Monday, Aug. 17: Final-round voting begins.
– Wednesday, Aug. 26, 10 p.m.: Final-round voting ends.
– Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6: Creative Arts Awards and Governors Gala.
– Monday, Sept. 14: NBC Telecast and Governors Gala.

Certain categories rely on peer group screening panels for nominations, including Outstanding Cinematography, Lighting Design, Music Composition, Sound Editing, and Technical Direction. The nominations are determined through a voting process by the Peer Group, followed by a screening panel review to finalize the nominations.
