Twin girls killed in upstate NY storm after tree crushes home, as neighbors recall devastated mother crying for help
The tragic incident that occurred in Upstate New York, where two young twin girls lost their lives due to a severe storm, has left the community in shock and mourning. Emily and Kenni Bisson, both 6 years old, were asleep in their beds when powerful winds from an EF-1 tornado caused a massive maple tree to fall onto their home in Clark Mills.
The force of the falling tree was so strong that it crashed through the roof of the house, penetrating the second floor where the twins and their mother, Kayleigh Bisson, were sleeping. Neighbors who heard the commotion rushed to help, with one neighbor climbing a tree to rescue the mother from the debris. The mother, in a state of panic, pleaded for someone to save her daughters who were trapped inside.
Despite the efforts of first responders and neighbors, both twins were pronounced dead at the scene. The community, still reeling from the tragedy, is coming together to support the grieving mother as she navigates this unimaginable loss. Emily and Kenni were described as popular and vibrant first-graders at Clinton Elementary School, known for their infectious smiles and enthusiasm for life.
The tragic loss of the twins and another resident in the area, Shelly Johnson, who also perished due to a falling tree, has prompted Governor Kathy Hochul to declare a state of emergency in 32 counties. The storm’s devastation has led to widespread damage and loss of life, highlighting the importance of being prepared for severe weather events.
As the community mourns the loss of these young lives, support and counseling are being offered to those affected by the tragedy. The impact of the storm serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and destructive nature of Mother Nature, emphasizing the need for preparedness and vigilance in the face of severe weather events.
