Two Banks Issue Urgent Data Breach Alerts, Warn 69,662 Customers After Hacker Hits Third-Party Vendor
Two US Banks Notify Customers of Data Breach
Recently, two US banks have issued alerts to tens of thousands of customers following a cybersecurity incident involving a third-party vendor. The Delaware-based community bank Artisans’ Bank disclosed in a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General that 32,344 customers have been impacted by a breach at Marquis Software Solutions.
Marquis Software Solutions specializes in providing software for managing customer data, marketing, and compliance to banks, credit unions, and correctional facilities. The breach may have resulted in the compromise of customers’ names and Social Security numbers, posing a risk to their personal information.
Artisans’ Bank stated, “On or about October 28, 2025, Artisans’ learned that a third-party vendor, Marquis Software Solutions, had determined through an investigation that at least as early as August 14, 2025, an unauthorized third party had gained access to personal information on Marquis systems.”
Similarly, customers of VeraBank, a Texas-based community bank, have also been affected by the same data breach. VeraBank reported in an Office of the Maine Attorney General filing that 37,318 customers are at risk, with their names and sensitive information potentially exposed.
It is important to note that VeraBank’s internal systems were not compromised, and the breach is confined to Marquis’s environment. Both banks are working diligently to address the breach and protect their customers’ data.
