U.K.–India deal set to boost bilateral trade by over $34 billion a year

On July 24, 2025, a historic free trade agreement was signed between the United Kingdom and India, paving the way for a significant boost in bilateral trade. The agreement, which was finalized after three years of intense negotiations, is expected to increase trade by more than $34 billion annually over the long term.

The FTA slashes duties on a wide range of goods including textiles, alcohol, and automobiles. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer were present at the signing of the agreement, emphasizing the importance of this deal for both countries.

The trade pact is projected to boost bilateral trade by 25.5 billion pounds per year by 2040, with trade in goods and services already standing at over 40 billion pounds in 2024. This agreement is hailed as a “blueprint for shared prosperity” by Prime Minister Modi, who highlighted the benefits it will bring to Indian goods entering the UK market.

Under the terms of the deal, 92% of goods exported by the UK to India will see reduced or eliminated tariffs, while 99% of Indian goods shipped to Britain will be tariff-free. This strategic win for India’s trade diplomacy will provide targeted benefits to Indian goods that previously faced high tariffs and regulatory barriers.

The agreement also includes provisions to reduce tariffs on a wide range of products, exempt Indian temporary workers in the UK from paying social security contributions for three years, and lower tariffs on products such as scotch, gin, brandy, rum, and automobiles.

The UK government estimates that its exports to India will see a reduction in weighted average tariffs from 15% to 3%. This deal, once ratified by both countries’ parliaments, is expected to have a positive impact on both economies, boosting wages, raising living standards, and bringing down prices for consumers.

The trade agreement is not only a win for the UK and India but also strengthens their positions in ongoing negotiations with other trading partners, including the US. The UK-India deal offers leverage against the US and is projected to boost British economic output by an additional 4.8 billion pounds annually.

For India, this trade deal serves as a springboard for ongoing talks with other developed economies and reinforces its position as a viable trading partner. The agreement sets a tone for future trade agreements and demonstrates India’s readiness to trade on its own terms.

Overall, the UK-India free trade agreement marks a significant milestone in the economic relations between the two countries, with mutual benefits expected to drive growth and prosperity for both nations in the years to come. The benefits of incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine

In today’s fast-paced world, it can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, taking the time to incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine can have a wide range of benefits for both your mental and physical well-being.

Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings in the present moment. It involves paying attention to your thoughts and emotions without judging them, and instead, simply observing them as they come and go.

One of the key benefits of incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine is reduced stress and anxiety. By practicing mindfulness, you can learn to focus on the present moment and let go of worries about the past or future. This can help to lower your stress levels and reduce feelings of anxiety, leading to a greater sense of calm and relaxation.

Additionally, mindfulness can also improve your focus and concentration. By training your mind to focus on the present moment, you can enhance your ability to concentrate on tasks and activities, leading to increased productivity and efficiency. This can be especially beneficial in a work or school setting where focus and concentration are key to success.

Mindfulness can also improve your relationships with others. By being fully present and attentive in your interactions with others, you can deepen your connections and foster more meaningful relationships. Mindfulness can help you to listen more effectively, communicate more clearly, and respond more thoughtfully to others, leading to stronger and more fulfilling relationships.

Furthermore, incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can have physical benefits as well. Research has shown that mindfulness can lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system. By reducing stress and anxiety, mindfulness can also improve sleep quality, leading to better overall health and well-being.

There are many ways to incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine, such as practicing meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply taking a few moments each day to focus on your breath and be present in the moment. By making mindfulness a regular part of your daily routine, you can reap the many benefits for your mental and physical health.
