UFC Fighter Sean Strickland Rants About Bad Bunny and Ronda Rousey

MMA fighter Sean Strickland sparked controversy during the Paramount+ and UFC media day event with his bigoted remarks. Strickland, who is set to fight Anthony Hernandez on Saturday night, made derogatory comments about Bad Bunny and expressed misogynistic views about women’s empowerment.

This is not the first time Strickland has been in hot water, as he was previously suspended from the UFC in July 2025 for attacking another fighter while working as a cornerman. Despite the backlash, Strickland seemed unapologetic for his offensive remarks during the media day event.

When discussing Netflix’s upcoming MMA match between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, Strickland made inappropriate comments about the fighters. He joked about Rousey’s past abusive relationship and objectified Carano by mentioning his attraction to her. Strickland also dismissed women’s sports, stating that “no one gives a fuck about women’s sports” and reducing women to traditional gender roles.

In addition to his comments about women, Strickland also made homophobic remarks about Bad Bunny, referring to him as a “fucking f—-t” and criticizing the NFL for featuring the artist as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer. His derogatory comments reflect a narrow-minded and intolerant perspective that is not acceptable in today’s society.

It is important to note that Paramount+ and the UFC have not yet responded to requests for comment on Strickland’s remarks. The UFC has a lucrative deal with TKO Group, making Paramount+ the exclusive home of all UFC events in the U.S. This partnership is valued at $7.7 billion over seven years, highlighting the significance of the MMA organization in the sports and entertainment industry.

Overall, Strickland’s offensive comments have sparked outrage and shed light on the need for greater awareness and sensitivity in the world of professional sports. It is essential for athletes to be held accountable for their words and actions, as they have a platform that can influence and shape societal attitudes.
