Ukraine says it hit key fuel pipeline near Moscow that supplies Russian forces
KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian forces have reportedly targeted a crucial fuel pipeline in the Moscow region that supplies the Russian army, as part of their efforts to disrupt Russian military logistics. The strike on the Koltsevoy pipeline, which provides gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel to Russian forces from refineries in Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, and Moscow, was described as a significant blow by Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR). The operation, which took place near Ramensky district, resulted in the destruction of all three fuel lines, affecting the transportation of millions of tons of fuel annually.
HUR’s head, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that the impact of these strikes surpasses that of international sanctions imposed on Russia, highlighting Ukraine’s strategic targeting of Russian military infrastructure. Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have repelled Ukrainian special forces in the eastern city of Pokrovsk, a key battleground where conflicting reports from both sides continue to emerge.
Amidst these developments, civilian casualties were reported in southern and central Ukraine following Russian missile strikes, further escalating the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country. Russia’s relentless drone and missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have led to power outages and disruptions, prompting accusations of systematic energy terrorism by Ukrainian authorities.
The ongoing conflict underscores the urgent need for international intervention to address the escalating violence and human suffering in Ukraine. As the situation continues to unfold, the world watches with growing concern over the devastating impact of war on innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
