University of Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. arrested during teams bye week
Alabama football player Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., the son of former NFL star Dre Kirkpatrick, found himself in trouble over the weekend during the Crimson Tide’s bye week. According to jail records obtained by AL.com, Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested in Tuscaloosa County on Saturday for three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude, and speeding. He was later released on $1,500 bond after spending a few hours in jail.
The University of Alabama Police Department is currently handling the investigation, although details surrounding Kirkpatrick Jr.’s arrest have not been disclosed to the public. An athletics spokesperson from the university stated, “We are aware of an incident involving Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and are working to gather more details at this time.”
Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., a former standout at the University of Alabama and All-American cornerback, played for the Crimson Tide under the guidance of coach Nick Saban from 2009 to 2011. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 17th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and later went on to play for the Arizona Cardinals.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. joined Alabama’s football program last year. He has played in 13 games last season and all eight games this season, recording nine tackles, a tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. The Crimson Tide currently holds a 7-1 overall record and a perfect 5-0 record in the SEC, positioning them as the second-best team in the conference.
With a game against LSU on the horizon, Alabama aims to secure its eighth victory of the season and maintain its dominance in the SEC. Despite his recent legal troubles, Kirkpatrick Jr. continues to contribute to the team’s success on the field.
