NextGen Healthcare, a US healthcare firm, has agreed to a court-approved settlement to compensate victims of a recent cyberattack that exposed patients’ private data. The cyberattack took place in March and April 2023, leading to NextGen Healthcare facing allegations of failing to adequately protect patient information. As part of the settlement, victims may receive up to $7,500 each to cover unreimbursed costs incurred as a result of the data breach.

They have incurred out-of-pocket expenses for purchasing credit monitoring services, credit freezes, and other protective measures to prevent identity theft and fraud.
