US Coast Guard officer Yohan Sanchez, family found dead in Florida home from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning

A tragic incident unfolded in Florida when a US Coast Guard officer, Yohan Sanchez, his wife, Rebeca Santos, and their two children, Michael Melendez and Samuel Sanchez, were found dead inside their Ocala home. The discovery was made during a welfare check by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, sparking fears of carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death.

Sanchez’s mother, Jackie Soto, revealed that she had spoken to her son just hours before the tragedy occurred. Their conversation was brief and routine, with Sanchez mentioned that he was baking a cake at the time. The heartbroken family members and neighbors were shocked by the sudden loss of the young family.

Authorities ruled out foul play and suspect that the family may have been exposed to carbon monoxide, an extremely toxic and odorless gas. The official cause of death is pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office, while detectives are actively investigating the incident.

Yohan Sanchez, a retired Coast Guard Reserve member, was described as a dedicated Christian who served his family, faith, and community. His sister, Noel Sanchez, set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses for the family. The Ocala Christian Academy community mourned the loss of Michael, a ninth grader known for his leadership abilities and commitment to serving others.

The family’s pastor had checked on them after they missed a church event, but it wasn’t until the pastor returned the next day that authorities were called. The close-knit neighborhood described the Sanchez family as “real nice” and deeply engaged in their church community.

As the investigation unfolds, the community is grappling with the sudden and tragic loss of the Sanchez family. Their legacy of faith, service, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew them.
