US gas prices sink below $3 a gallon for first time since 2021
Gas prices in the US dropped below $3 on Tuesday for the first time since May 2021, as reported by AAA.
The national average for regular gas fell to $2.998 per gallon, down from $3.001 the previous day, according to the fuel price tracker.
This price decrease marks a significant drop from $3.036 a month ago and $3.05 at the same time last year.
Amidst concerns of inflation and a weak job market, Americans are finding relief in the declining gas prices at the pump.
Consumer confidence took a hit in November, dropping to 88.7 from 95.5 in October, according to a survey by the Conference Board.
Notable political victories in the recent elections reflected voters’ concerns about the cost of living, with candidates like Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in New York City and gubernatorial winners Mikie Sherill in New Jersey and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia.
President Trump’s push for affordability and lower prices has coincided with the decrease in gas prices, driven by increased oil production by OPEC.
With the average gas price falling below $2.75 per gallon in several states, including New Mexico, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Colorado, consumers are experiencing welcome relief.
