US Marshals join search to locate ‘West Wing’ actor Timothy Busfield following child sex abuse charges
The US Marshals Service has recently joined the search for Timothy Busfield after an arrest warrant was issued for the actor in New Mexico on child sex abuse charges. Authorities in Albuquerque are working closely with the US Marshals Service to locate and apprehend Busfield in connection with the troubling allegations.
According to Gilbert Gallegos, a spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department, there is no definite timeline for when Busfield will be taken into custody. The police department is actively collaborating with the US Marshals Service to bring the “West Wing” actor to justice.
Busfield, 68, is facing two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. The allegations stem from incidents involving two 11-year-old twins while Busfield was directing the Fox show “The Cleaning Lady” in 2024. One of the alleged victims claimed that the abuse began when they were just 7 years old.
The investigation into Busfield’s alleged crimes started in November 2024 after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital reported suspected sexual abuse and grooming of minors. Although charges were initially not pursued, the case was reopened in September 2025 when one of the children disclosed the abuse to a counselor and pediatrician.
During a phone interview with investigators, Busfield admitted to the possibility of having physical contact with the twins during filming. However, he claimed not to remember the specific incidents and denied overtly tickling the boys.
The allegations against Busfield are still under investigation, and the actor has more than 700 credits in TV and film as an actor, producer, and director. He is best known for his role in “The West Wing” and married to actress Melissa Gilbert in 2013. Gilbert, known for her role in “Little House on the Prairie,” recently spoke out against child sex abuse on Instagram, following comments made by Megyn Kelly regarding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
It remains to be seen how the case against Busfield will unfold as authorities continue their efforts to locate and apprehend the actor in connection with the disturbing allegations.
