Vehicle Drives Into Crowd In East Hollywood, Injuring 30 People

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A shocking incident occurred in Los Angeles early Saturday when a vehicle crashed into a crowd of people waiting to enter a nightclub along Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood. The impact resulted in 30 injuries, with at least three individuals in critical condition. Victims were swiftly transported to local hospitals and trauma centers by emergency responders.

According to Capt. Adam Van Gerpen of the Los Angeles City Fire Department, the majority of those injured were females waiting in line to enter the nightclub. The chaos unfolded as a Nissan Versa collided with the crowd, also striking a taco truck and valet stand in the vicinity.

During the aftermath, paramedics discovered that one of the victims had sustained a gunshot wound, although their identity remains unknown at this time. Van Gerpen emphasized that the incident is currently under investigation by the LAPD.

Witnesses described a scene of chaos and confusion, with people inside the club rushing out to assist the injured before emergency crews arrived. The club, Vermont Hollywood, was hosting a reggae/hip hop event at the time.

One individual, Francisco Mendez, arrived at the scene after learning that his sister-in-law and her husband, who were operating a hot dog stand outside the club, had been caught up in the tragic event.
